Tottenham Hotspur have reached a £60 million agreement with Crystal Palace to sign England midfielder Eberechi Eze, with £30 million paid upfront and the rest in installments.
Tottenham Hotspur have made a significant breakthrough in their pursuit of Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze, agreeing to a deal worth just over £60 million. The North Londoners have been in talks with the Eagles for several days, and the agreement marks a major coup for Spurs.
The deal structure includes an upfront payment of £30 million, with the remaining amount paid in installments. This initial payment will enable Crystal Palace to sign a replacement for Eze, who has been a key target for Tottenham following James Maddison’s ACL injury during pre-season.
Eze, 27, has been an integral part of Crystal Palace’s success, scoring 34 goals and providing 23 assists in 146 Premier League appearances. His impressive form earned him a spot in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad and widespread recognition as one of the league’s most dynamic attacking midfielders.
Crystal Palace is expected to look for replacements for Eze, with Bilal El Khannouss from Leicester City and Chris Tzolis from Club Brugge being potential targets. These players could bring a similar level of skill and creativity to the team, helping to fill the void left by Eze’s departure.
The England midfielder played in Palace’s 0-0 draw against Chelsea on Sunday, despite suggestions that he might sit out the match due to ongoing negotiations with Spurs. Palace manager Oliver Glasner had indicated that Eze would likely be available for Thursday’s Conference League clash with Fredrikstad, but this now seems unlikely given the agreement.
