Tottenham defender Djed Spence has signed a new long-term contract with the club, extending his stay at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract with the north London club. The 25-year-old defender has been an integral part of the team, making 43 appearances and scoring twice since joining Spurs from Middlesbrough in July 2022.

Spence’s journey with Tottenham has been remarkable, considering he was initially frozen out of the squad and shipped out on loan three times.

However, under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance, he finally broke into the side and delivered solid performances. His versatility and defensive skills have made him a crucial part of the team.

The full-back’s breakthrough season was marked by notable performances, including a 5-0 win over Southampton and a 4-1 victory at Ipswich Town, where he scored his first league goal. Spence also played a key role in Tottenham’s Europa League success last season.

Spence expressed his happiness working under new manager Thomas Frank, who oversaw his first league win in the Tottenham dugout with a 3-0 victory against newly promoted Burnley.

“The new manager has been good with me, speaks to me a lot, gives me confidence,” Spence said.

“I just want to keep playing well and reach a higher level. Everyone has trials and tribulations, but I’m a fighter. I always work hard, try my best, and come back from everything,” Spence added.
