Chelsea insists on a permanent sale for Christopher Nkunku, rejecting Bayern Munich’s loan deal proposal with a buy option.
Christopher Nkunku’s potential transfer to Bayern Munich is on hold, with Chelsea holding firm on their demand for a permanent sale.
The Blues have rejected Bayern’s proposal for a loan deal with a buy option that could become an obligation to buy in the 2025/26 season. Nkunku, who has made 62 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 18 goals and providing five assists, remains keen on joining Bayern Munich.
The club is reportedly looking to secure a deal worth around £40-50 million for Nkunku, having initially valued him at £70 million. Bayern Munich’s interest in Nkunku is not new, having first explored a deal in January 2025, but the German giants are now pushing to finalize the transfer.
Nkunku’s move to Bayern Munich would be a significant coup for the club, providing a versatile attacking option.
He can play as a No. 9, No. 10, or winger, making him an ideal player to cover several positions. Vincent Kompany, Bayern’s coach, envisions Nkunku in a central, attacking part of the formation, which aligns with Nkunku’s preferred role.
While Chelsea are adamant about a permanent sale, Bayern Munich might need to meet their terms to secure Nkunku’s services. Other clubs, including Inter Milan, Newcastle, and Nottingham Forest, have also shown interest in Nkunku, but Bayern Munich remains his preferred destination.
For Chelsea, selling Nkunku would help them fund new signings and balance their books. For Bayern Munich, securing Nkunku would provide a much-needed boost to their attacking lineup, potentially reviving his career in the Bundesliga where he previously excelled.
