Bayern Munich added another trophy to their cabinet as they defeated VFB Stuttgart in the DFL Supercup.

Bayern Munich won the DFL Supercup after beating VFB Stuttgart 2-1 in regular time. The game saw Kompany’s men control much of the ball while comfortably withstanding the pressure from the underdogs.

Bayern knocked at Stuttgart’s defense for most of the opening minutes and they were rewarded with a goal in the 18th minute. Their talisman man was on hand to slot the ball calmly into the net.

The game was a bit open after the first goal and both sides fought with everything. Bayern Munich transfer target, Nick Woltemade was a thorn in the flesh of the Bundesliga champions but he was unable to level the scoreline for his current team as Neuer was alert between the sticks.

With the game winding down to its end, Bayern Munich got a second goal through new signing Luis Diaz to put the game beyond Stuttgart’s reach.

Despite Bayern’s two goal lead, Stuttgart refused to back down and they eventually got a consolation goal for all their struggles in added time through Leweling.  The goal was a little too late to inspire a comeback and at full time, Bayern were confirmed Franz Beckenbauer Supercup champions.
