Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has left Yves Bissouma out of the UEFA Super Cup squad due to disciplinary issues, citing repeated lateness as the reason.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank has made a bold statement ahead of the UEFA Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain by leaving midfielder Yves Bissouma out of the squad due to disciplinary issues.

Bissouma, who started in the Europa League final victory over Manchester United, has been left behind due to repeated lateness during pre-season training. Frank explained that Bissouma’s tardiness was the reason for his exclusion, stating, “He has been late several times and the last time was just one too many.”

This is not the first time Bissouma has faced disciplinary issues. Last year, he was involved in a controversy after posting a video of himself using laughing gas on Snapchat, a banned substance in the UK. Bissouma publicly apologized for the incident, and Frank assured that the matter would be dealt with properly after the Super Cup.

Despite being underdogs against PSG, Frank believes his team has the potential to give the French champions a run for their money. In the pre-match press conference, Frank said, “I think for the club, for everyone involved with Tottenham, it’s a massive game. It’s a great challenge and a massive opportunity. We will embrace it and give everything.”

Frank also expressed confidence in his team’s structure, stating, “Hopefully, it is perfect tomorrow, we are playing against an ‘ok’ team, who I think did reasonably well last year, but that we are ready for.”

Dominic Solanke, Radu Dragusin, and Destiny Udogie all traveled with the squad to Udine, Italy, where the UEFA Super Cup will take place. Frank confirmed that Solanke is available for selection after recovering from an injury, saying, “Dom is the positive one, he is available for selection. Destiny is closer and getting closer to training with the group.”

The UEFA Super Cup will be played at the Stadio Friuli in Udine, Italy. Despite history not being on their side, Frank is optimistic about his team’s chances, emphasizing that the match will be “100% super competitive”.

Former Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has backed Frank’s decision to leave Bissouma out of the squad, stating that it shows Frank is willing to discipline his players. Redknapp said, “So I agree with what Thomas Frank’s done, it shows that he’s going to be disciplined with the players and good, I think he’ll do well there.”
