The France international could be out for anytime between a few days to several weeks

Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is a doubt for the start of the La Liga season after suffering an ankle injury in training.

The 22-year-old has been absent from multiple training sessions, including one on Sunday morning, and is unlikely to feature in Madrid’s only pre-season match of the summer against Austrian side Tirol on Tuesday.

The extent of the injury is unknown, and the player could be out for anytime between a few days to several weeks.

Camavinga’s fitness has been a recurring concern. Last season, the France international was sidelined four times with separate injuries.

He spent around seven weeks out early in the campaign after spraining a ligament in his left knee, missed over two weeks between November and December with a hamstring problem picked up in the Champions League against Liverpool, and then was out for three weeks in January and February with another hamstring issue.

He also missed the last six matches of the season due to a left abductor tear, an injury that also ruled him out of the Club World Cup.
