Delap Stars as Chelsea Floor AC Milan in 4-1 Victory

Chelsea ran out 4-1 winners in their last preseason friendly against AC Milan at Stamford Bridge and substitute Liam Delap stole the show.

Delap found the back of the net twice for Chelsea in their preseason game against AC Milan despite playing only 30 minutes.

Chelsea started the game on the front foot after Coubis’ own goal put the blues in front within five minutes of play. Three minutes later, Chelsea were two goals up after João Pedro found the back of the net off an assist from Pedro Neto. Chelsea controlled the rest of the first half and to make matters worse, for AC Milan, Coubis got red-carded in the 18th minute.

The second half started off a bit slowly but Chelsea had a worry after Chalobah had to be subbed off after a collision with Yunus Musah.

Delap came on in the 60th minute as part of the substitutions and seven minutes later, he had his name on the score sheet. Delap thundered his penalty past Maignan to give Chelsea a 3-0 lead.

Although Milan pulled a goal back through Fofana, they were stormed by Delap again. In the final minute of the 90, Delap found himself on the edge of the box after a well-worked move through Andrey Santos and from that range, he showed Chelsea fans that he’s ju itst as good as João Pedro.

He whipped a low-driven shot past Maignan to make it 4-1 to Chelsea. This result is a boost for Chelsea as they take on community shield winners Crystal Palace in their opening game of the Premier League season.

With these kind of performances, Chelsea fans can ponder on the thought that they might actually be title contenders.
