PSG confirms the signing of French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a five-year contract until 2030, with the 23-year-old set to succeed Gianluigi Donnarumma as the team’s top goalkeeper.
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have officially signed French goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier from Lille on a contract until 2030.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper joins PSG for a reported fee of around €40 million, making him a significant addition to the team’s squad. Chevalier’s signing comes as PSG looks to secure their future, with current keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma’s contract nearing its end.
Chevalier expressed his excitement about joining PSG, saying, “I am a kid that is living his dream. Ever since I was small, I wanted to play at the very highest level.” He added, “I’m really delighted to be here. I will wear this shirt with passion and ambition.”
The Calais-born goalkeeper graduated from Lille’s youth academy and played on loan for Valenciennes before becoming the first-choice keeper at his parent club during the 2022-23 season. His impressive performances earned him the Ligue 1 Goalkeeper of the Year award for the 2024-25 season, recognized by the UNFP trade union for professional footballers in France.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi praised Chevalier as “one of the leading goalkeepers in France and Europe and a fantastic addition to our team.” Al-Khelaifi emphasized the club’s focus on building for the long-term, highlighting Chevalier’s potential to play a key role in the team’s future success.
With his new role at PSG, Chevalier is expected to succeed Donnarumma as the team’s top goalkeeper. Donnarumma has a year left on his contract, and PSG’s signing of Chevalier suggests they are preparing for life after the Italian goalkeeper.
