Premier League side are considering more reliable options in goal

Manchester United are considering a move for Paris Saint-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Italian goalkeeper is now into the final 12 months of his contract but is yet to open talks over a new deal.

Donnarumma also faces fresh competition with PSG nearing the signing of Lille’s Lucas Chevalier. While the Italian remains open to staying and fighting for the No 1 role, the situation has other clubs monitoring developments closely.

A move for Donnarumma would have implications for Andre Onana, who is currently recovering from a hamstring injury and did not feature in United’s pre-season matches in the US.

The Cameroon international has had a poor spell at Old Trafford since arriving from Inter Milan last summer, committing a series of high-profile errors that cost his team dearly.

Donnarumma joined PSG from AC Milan in 2021 and has made over 100 appearances for the club. He was hugely influential between the sticks as the Parisian side won their first Champions League trophy last season.
