Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen expressed gratitude to Napoli after completing his permanent transfer to Galatasaray, posting a heartfelt message on social media.

Victor Osimhen has officially joined Galatasaray on a permanent deal after a successful loan spell, and he’s taken to social media to thank his former club, Napoli.

The Nigerian striker posted a simple yet sincere message on Instagram, “Grazie per tutto” or “Thanks for everything,” accompanied by pictures from his time at the Stadio Maradona.

Osimhen’s departure from Napoli marks the end of a successful five-year association with the Italian club. During his tenure, he played a crucial role in Napoli’s Scudetto win in the 2022-23 season, becoming the Serie A top goal scorer with 26 goals. Osimhen scored 76 goals in 133 appearances between 2020 to 2024.

The striker’s move to Galatasaray was confirmed yesterday, with the Turkish champions paying a reported €75 million to secure his services permanently. Osimhen’s loan spell at Galatasaray was highly productive, scoring 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Former and current Napoli players flooded Osimhen’s social media post with congratulatory messages. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the PSG star, called Osimhen “a legend,” while Napoli defender Juan Jesus wished him well, saying, “You are part of the story. And I always wish you the best. God bless you and good luck.”

Napoli’s goodbye message to Osimhen reflected the strained relationship between the two parties in recent times. Despite Osimhen’s crucial role in the club’s success, his desire to leave and the subsequent transfer negotiations seemed to have soured his relationship with the club.

In contrast, Osimhen’s reception at Galatasaray has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans and club officials expressing delight at his signing. The club’s president, Dursun Özbek, has been instrumental in securing Osimhen’s services, and it seems Osimhen is set to begin a new chapter in his career.
