Arsenal has begun talks with William Saliba’s agents over a new contract, with sporting director Andrea Berta working on finding a suitable agreement amid interest from Real Madrid.

Arsenal has had a productive transfer window, signing six players thus far, including Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Noni Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, and Viktor Gyokeres.

However, the club’s focus may shift to retaining key players, particularly William Saliba and Bukayo Saka, who have both entered the final two years of their respective deals.

Saliba recently expressed his hope to extend his contract soon, and now it’s been reported that negotiations have already started with his agents.

Arsenal’s sporting director, Andrea Berta, is working on finding a suitable agreement amid reports of interest from Real Madrid. The Spanish giants consider Saliba a key target for the future, but Arsenal seems determined to end the speculation with an improved deal.

Saliba has been a revelation for the Gunners since making his Premier League debut against Crystal Palace during the 2022/23 season.

The £190,000 per week star has developed into one of the best centre-backs in the division, forming a brilliant partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. As a result, the Gunners have had the best defensive record, and the club have focused on adding quality in the final third this summer to push for potential silverware.

Keeping Saliba is essential for the Gunners as they seek to win regular trophies in the future. The Frenchman has hinted at an extension, and hopefully, the club can find an amicable agreement before the new campaign, which would provide an extra boost. Berta’s discussions with Saliba’s representatives aim to negotiate an improved deal beyond June 2027, ensuring the player’s long-term commitment to the club.

The speculation surrounding Saliba’s future has been ongoing, with Real Madrid reportedly interested in signing him next summer or on a free transfer in 2027. Arsenal are fully aware of the possibility and are taking proactive steps to retain their star defender.
