Chelsea has made an enquiry for Ajax’s Jorrel Hato, a talented 19-year-old defender who can play as a left-back or centre-back, amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Chelsea are actively pursuing Jorrel Hato, a highly-rated 19-year-old defender from Ajax, to bolster their left-back options.

The Blues have made an enquiry into a potential transfer for Hato, who has already amassed over a century of appearances for Ajax despite his young age. Hato’s talent has drawn interest from top clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.

The 19-year-old defender has been a standout performer for Ajax, playing 37 games for the club last season across all competitions.

He’s also earned six caps for the senior Netherlands international team, lining up alongside Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk. Hato’s ability to play as both a left-back and centre-back makes him an attractive prospect for Chelsea, who are looking to strengthen their defense.

Chelsea’s interest in Hato is driven by their current lack of depth at left-back. With Ben Chilwell expected to depart, Marc Cucurella would be the sole senior left-back option, making Hato a valuable addition to the team.

Enzo Maresca’s side has been exploring various options to address this issue, and Hato’s signing could provide a long-term solution.

Hato’s impressive performances for Ajax have caught the attention of several top clubs.

While Chelsea are leading the race for his signature, Arsenal and Liverpool are also keen on signing the talented defender. Ajax is reportedly holding out for a huge €70m fee, but English clubs believe a deal could be struck closer to €50m.

Hato draws his playing style from defenders like Jurrien Timber and he has praised Timber’s calmness on the ball and defensive prowess, saying he learned a lot from him during their time together at Ajax.

If Chelsea can persuade Ajax to part ways with their defensive gem, Hato may find himself lining up against Timber and Van Dijk in the coming Premier League campaign.
