A fee of around £17m could persuade Antwerp to part with their 23-year-old goalkeeper

Manchester United could move for Royal Antwerp’s Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens, as the Premier League club look to address their problems between the sticks.

First-choice goalkeeper Andre Onana is expected to miss most of pre-season due to a hamstring injury. There is also uncertainty lingering over his long-term future at Old Trafford, after a series of high-profile errors cost United dearly last season.

It is understood that a fee of around £17m could persuade Antwerp to part with their 23-year-old goalie, as reported by The Sun.

United’s other goalkeepers apart from Onana are Altay Bayindir, who did not make a sufficient case for himself when he got opportunities last season, and the 39-year-old Tom Heaton, who is yet to make a Premier League appearance for United and had his contract extended more for his influence and leadership than shot-stopping skills.

Lammens enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2024-25 as Antwerp’s first-choice goalkeeper, making 41 appearances across all competitions and keeping 10 clean sheets.

His ability and composure have earned him praise in Belgium, and he has been touted as one of the most promising goalkeepers in his age group across Europe.

A product of Club Brugge’s academy, Lammens made headlines in the 2019 UEFA Youth League when he scored a stoppage-time header against Real Madrid to secure a dramatic draw and send his side through to the knockout stages. Since then, he has developed steadily, last season being his most consistent spell of senior football to date.
