Mbeumo expected to join Ruben Amorim’s squad for their pre-season tour of the United States next week

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo, with the Cameroon forward set to become the club’s third signing of the summer.

The deal involves an initial payment of £65m spread across four instalments, with an additional £6m dependent on performance-related bonuses, according to The Athletic.

On Thursday United made a third bid of £65m plus £5m in add-ons for the forward. After negotiations, they have now increased the value of the add-ons by £1m.

Final paperwork and a medical will now follow, with Mbeumo having agreed personal terms with United weeks ago.

The 25-year-old chose United over rival interest from Tottenham Hotspur, despite Spurs’ new boss Thomas Frank having coached him for five years.

The Cameroon international leaves Brentford after six seasons, having developed into one of the club’s most influential players since arriving from French side Troyes in 2019.

Mbeumo played every league game for Brentford last season, registering 20 goals and eight assists. He is set to join Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha in United’s new-look attack under Ruben Amorim.

United are scheduled to depart for their pre-season tour of the United States next week and they expect Mbeumo to travel with the squad after completing his transfer.

How Will Manchester United Line Up Next Season with Cunha and Mbeumo?

Cunha and Mbeumo are expected to occupy the two advanced roles just behind the striker. In practice, they will serve as inside forwards or No 10s, pressing from the front and getting goals on either side of a striker. They will also be expected to collect the ball there in the half-spaces and bring the players around them into the game.
