RB Leipzig has signed speedy right winger Johan Bakayoko from PSV Eindhoven on a long-term deal until 2030, with the club paying a fee of €18m plus €4m in bonuses.

RB Leipzig has officially announced the signing of Johan Bakayoko, a 22-year-old speedy right winger from PSV Eindhoven.

The Belgian international has signed a contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until 2030. Leipzig has secured Bakayoko’s services at a bargain price of €22m, with the fee broken down into €18m upfront and €4m in potential bonuses.

Bakayoko’s arrival at Leipzig is seen as a significant coup for the club, with the winger’s speed, power, and goal threat expected to enrich the team’s game on the right wing.

Sporting director Marcel Schäfer expressed his delight at Bakayoko’s signing, highlighting his strengths both with and without the ball. Leipzig had to compete with other top clubs, including Dortmund and Leverkusen, to secure Bakayoko’s services.

The 22-year-old had been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Everton and Nottingham Forest, but turned down their offers to join Leipzig. Bakayoko is excited about his new challenge at Leipzig, praising the club’s ambitious and attacking style of football. He was impressed by the club’s commitment to him and the discussions he had with the coaching staff.

Bakayoko’s signing marks the fourth addition to Leipzig’s squad this summer under new manager Ole Werner.

The club has been active in the transfer market, signing several high-profile players to strengthen their squad. With Bakayoko’s speed and skill, Leipzig’s attack is expected to become even more potent and dynamic.

The transfer fee paid by Leipzig for Bakayoko is seen as a bargain, considering the winger’s potential and abilities. Bakayoko scored 12 goals and provided three assists last season, and his form is expected to improve further under Leipzig’s coaching staff.

With a long-term deal in place, Leipzig can build around Bakayoko and develop him into a world-class player. The club’s commitment to playing attractive and attacking football is likely to suit Bakayoko’s style, and he is expected to make a significant impact at Leipzig.
