Arsenal is preparing to part ways with midfielder Fabio Vieira, who has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and suffered from injuries during his time with the club.

Fabio Vieira, the 25-year-old Portuguese midfielder, is set to leave Arsenal after failing to prove his credentials at the club.

Vieira joined the Gunners from Porto in a surprise £34.2 million deal three years ago, but he has struggled to adapt to the extra physicality of the Premier League. Despite showing promise in his early days at the club, Vieira has been hampered by injuries and has failed to replicate the form that earned him a big-money transfer.

Vieira’s time at Arsenal has been marked by inconsistency and a lack of impact.

He has registered only three goals and 10 assists from 49 appearances for the club in all competitions. His best showing came against Fulham in 2023, where he scored a goal and provided an assist coming off the bench. However, this level of performance has been rare for Vieira, and it appears that the club has decided to cut their losses.

Vieira’s loan spell at Porto last season showed glimpses of his potential, with 11 goal contributions in his time with the Portuguese club. However, this form has not been enough to convince Arsenal to keep him, and the club is now looking to sell him. With two years left on his contract, sporting director Andrea Berta will be aiming to secure a decent fee for Vieira.

Parma are one of the clubs interested in signing Vieira, and Arsenal will be looking to recoup as much of their initial investment as possible. Vieira’s departure would be a significant reduction in Arsenal’s wage bill and would allow the club to focus on developing younger players.
