Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson has firmly dismissed rumours linking him with a move away from the club, calling the speculation “fake news” and insisting his future remains at the Etihad.

The 31-year-old Brazilian has just one year remaining on his current contract and has reportedly been attracting interest from the Saudi Pro League. But speaking ahead of City’s final Club World Cup group game against Juventus in Orlando, Ederson made it clear that his focus remains on helping City win more silverware.

“My future is here,” said Ederson. “Some friends send me a lot of news but 99% is fake news. I understand you guys [the media] – you need the news to put a like on social media or rant for the news. I understand but there’s a lot of fake news around my name. My head is here. It stays with City.”

The Brazilian has been central to Manchester City’s success under Pep Guardiola, playing a key role in multiple Premier League titles, cup wins, and Champions League triumph in 2023.

Ederson also said that he is currently aiming to help Manchester City become the first team to win the Club World Cup in its new format.

“It’s a new competition, a new trophy,” said Ederson. “I have the opportunity to be in the first team to win this trophy. It’s really important for us to put the name on the history of this competition, for the first group to win this title.”

City are favourites to win their group and are on course for a potential clash with Real Madrid in the last 16.

Ederson said: “If Real Madrid comes, I will play and try to win. We’re ready for everything. I work every day to try to win every game and go to the final.

“The team works to win this competition. I look at every player and their focus is on the training, the games.”
