The Netherlands international spent an entire season out injured and has struggled for form since his return

Manchester United are facing difficulties in finding a buyer for left-back Tyrell Malacia, with the Netherlands defender currently attracting little to no interest despite being made available for transfer this summer.

Malacia joined United in 2022 with high expectations but has seen his progress stall due to a long-term knee injury that ruled him out for over a year. After a promising first campaign where he made 39 appearances, the 24-year-old underwent surgery and didn’t return to competitive action until November 2024.

Although he featured briefly under new manager Ruben Amorim, Malacia was sent out on loan to PSV Eindhoven during the winter window. He played a supporting role as the Dutch club secured the Eredivisie title, while rivals Ajax endured a chaotic campaign.

Despite Malacia’s return to fitness and a title-winning loan spell back in his homeland, United are finding it tough to generate concrete interest in the full-back. Malacia is among several players United are looking to move on this summer, according to The Athletic.

The defender still has one year still left on his contract. The club are open to both permanent and loan offers but are yet to receive any firm approaches. That means Malacia’s fate may not be decided until the final weeks of the transfer window, as teams consider late moves or injury replacements.
