Forward has missed two of Real Madrid’s Club World Cup group games
Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is back in training after a tough spell with illness that left him hospitalised and reportedly 5kg lighter.
The France forward has missed Madrid’s first two Club World Cup group matches after being diagnosed with gastroenteritis last week. Mbappe was very affected by the illness and has been slowly easing back into fitness at the club’s training base.
The player has been doing light gym work in recent days, and photos have shown a visibly slimmer Mbappe, as reported by Marca. Despite not yet reaching full fitness, the 25-year-old could feature in Madrid’s final group stage game against RB Salzburg on Friday.
Madrid only need a draw to secure top spot in Group H, but fans will be eager to see Mbappe return to action, even if only for a short appearance, especially with the possibility of a round of 16 clash with Manchester City looming.
Mbappe has already had a strong start to life at the Bernabeu, scoring 43 goals in 56 matches during his first season in Spain. While the club failed to win silverware last term, his individual performances were a bright spot.
Club legend Sergio Ramos recently said Mbappe would “win four or five Ballon d’Ors” at Real Madrid.
