Arsenal’s transfer target Rodrygo has a £77m price tag, amid strong interest from the Gunners and other top clubs, with Rodrygo’s wage demands potentially disrupting Arsenal’s wage structure.

Real Madrid has placed a hefty price tag of £77 million (€90 million) on Brazilian winger Rodrygo, amid strong interest from Arsenal and other top clubs. The 24-year-old has been a key player for Los Blancos, winning three La Liga titles and two Champions League trophies since joining from Santos in 2019 for €45 million.

Rodrygo’s impressive form last season, with 14 goals and 11 assists in 52 appearances, has caught the attention of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, the arrival of Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior has pushed Rodrygo down the pecking order, and he’s growing frustrated with his lack of guaranteed starts under new head coach Xabi Alonso.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta see Rodrygo as a dynamic and versatile option, but the financial package required to sign him poses a challenge.

The £77m transfer fee is just the beginning, as Rodrygo is reportedly demanding a net salary of €12 million per season, around £206,000 per week, which would make him Arsenal’s highest-paid player and disrupt the club’s wage structure.

With the second window of the summer transfer window approaching, Arsenal will need to carefully consider the costs and benefits of pursuing Rodrygo.

Will they be willing to meet the financial demands, or will Rodrygo remain at Real Madrid? The Gunners are reportedly leading the race for Rodrygo’s signature, but only time will tell if they can secure his services.
