Alexander-Arnold has the talent and self-belief to “do great things for the club”, says midfielder

Jude Bellingham says he has full confidence that Trent Alexander-Arnold will thrive at Real Madrid, backing his England teammate to “do great things” after an impressive start to life in Spain.

Alexander-Arnold made the high-profile switch from Liverpool to Madrid this summer after a trophy-laden spell at Anfield. Now he joins a Real Madrid team that is brimming with talent and ambition, and where expectations are always sky-high.

Bellingham, who has already won La Liga and the Champions League since joining Los Blancos, has been impressed by how quickly Alexander-Arnold is adapting, both on and off the pitch.

“He’s been really good,” Bellingham told reporters. “I think the lads have taken to him really well because not only is he an amazing player, but he’s a great guy as well. Obviously, he’s already speaking a bit of Spanish, so I think all the lads were impressed by that. It’s been really nice.”

While many football fans wonder how Alexander-Arnold will handle the transition from Liverpool to the Bernabeu, Bellingham sees no issue, especially since the 25-year-old has a lot of self-belief.

“I told him he’s here for a reason and that he’ll do great things for the club,” Bellingham added. “And I think he already believed that, he’s got that confidence.”

Asked if he’s passed along any advice to help his compatriot settle in, Bellingham laughed: “I can’t say that on camera! Listen, it’s all good, it’s just about enjoying himself really. Obviously the pressure is gonna be insane, but he’s got what it takes.”
