Ranieri Frontrunner to Succeed Spalletti as Italy Coach

Claudio Ranieri

New coach selection process underway after Spalletti’s departure, and Ranieri leads the charge.

Claudio Ranieri is the top contender to replace Luciano Spalletti as Italy’s national team coach, according to reports.

Ranieri’s impressive stint at Roma has caught the attention of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), making him a strong candidate for the role.

Luciano Spalletti’s farewell to the National team, by choice of the Federation and not by the CT’s resignation as had leaked, now opens the doors to the new coach to be chosen. The race, according to initial rumours, seems to be between Stefano Pioli and Claudio Ranieri.

According to what was reported by Gazzetta dello Sport, Claudio Ranieri is the first name in pole position to succeed Luciano Spalletti.

Sir Claudio, after performing a miracle at Roma, is at the top of the Federation’s preferences. Stefano Pioli’s candidacy also remains very strong; the current coach of Al Nassr is in Fiorentina’s sights.
