US coach says comeback to Spurs is “Not Realistic”

Mauricio Pochettino has ruled out a return to Tottenham as manager, citing his current role as US head coach as a major factor.

Despite being linked to the job following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking, Pochettino believes a comeback to the club he left in 2019 is “not realistic”. The Argentine manager seems content in his new role, and his comments suggest he’s focused on his work with the US team.

Pochettino’s remarks come as Tottenham explores options to replace Postecoglou, who led the club to their first piece of silverware in 17 years with victory in the Europa League.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank is reportedly a leading contender for the job, with Fulham’s Marco Silva also in the mix. It appears Pochettino’s mind is made up, and he’s not considering a return to Spurs anytime soon.

Meanwhile, Tottenham has been busy extending contracts for key players. Left-back Ben Davies has signed a new deal until the summer of 2026, recognizing his value to the team. Davies is Tottenham’s longest-serving senior player, with 358 appearances across all competitions. His loyalty and experience will undoubtedly be assets for the club moving forward.

As Tottenham navigates this transition period, the club will be looking to appoint a new manager who can build on the foundations laid by Postecoglou.

With several candidates in the running, it will be interesting to see who ultimately gets the nod and what direction the club takes under new leadership.
