Mbeumo has one year left on his current contract with an option for an additional 12 months, so Brentford are not under pressure to sell.

Manchester United have submitted a formal £55 million bid for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, in what has so far been a busy summer for the club.

The offer includes £45 million upfront and £10 million in potential add-ons. It falls slightly short of Brentford’s £60 million valuation but with the player keen on the move, a deal could soon be struck. Mbeumo is eager to make the step up to Manchester United and has already clearly expressed his desire to join the club.

United endured their worst league campaign in the Premier League era, finishing 15th and scoring just 44 goals, a figure bettered by all but four teams in the league last season. Poor performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have forced the club to seek more dependable, Premier League-proven options. Mbeumo fits that mould perfectly.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a standout year with Brentford, scoring 20 goals and notching 8 assists in all competitions, helping the Bees to a solid 10th-place finish.

His ability to operate both centrally and out wide makes him an ideal candidate for Amorim’s fluid attacking system, though he is expected to line up on the right out of United’s two No 10s. His work rate, consistency and directness are traits United have majorly lacked.

Mbeumo has one year left on his current contract with an option for an additional 12 months, so Brentford are not under pressure to sell. The club remain open to negotiations but are confident that they will get the value they have placed on their player due to his stature within the Premier League.

United have already completed a £62.5 million deal for Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, also part of the strategy of prioritising Premier League-ready signings over riskier signings from abroad.
