AC Milan has officially let go of Sergio Conceicao after a disappointing season.

AC Milan has officially sacked coach Sergio Conceicao after just six months in charge, citing the team’s underwhelming performance in the second half of the season.

Conceicao, who took over in December after Paulo Fonseca’s dismissal, had signed an 18-month deal with the club. Despite winning the Italian Super Cup in his second game, Milan’s league form failed to pick up, leading to an eighth-place finish and missing out on European football next season.

The decision to part ways with Conceicao comes as Inter Milan, AC’s arch-rivals, prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final this weekend. Milan’s season was marked by inconsistency, with Conceicao winning 16 out of 31 matches in charge, averaging 1.71 points per game. The team’s loss to Bologna in the Coppa Italia final was a significant blow, ending their hopes of salvaging the season.

Conceicao’s exit is attributed to the club’s failure to meet expectations, particularly in the league.

Despite his impressive track record at Porto, where he won 11 trophies in six years, Conceicao struggled to replicate that success at San Siro. In a statement, Milan thanked Conceicao and his staff for their commitment and professionalism, wishing them the best for their future. The club acknowledged Conceicao’s contribution to winning the 50th trophy in Milan’s history, the Italian Super Cup.
