Amad’s support comes after reports that Amorim has told Garnacho to find a new club

Amad Diallo has voiced his support for Argentine teammate Alejandro Garnacho amid growing uncertainty over the player’s future at Manchester United.

Speaking during a pre-match press conference ahead of United’s friendly against a Hong Kong XI, Amad praised Garnacho’s ability and made it clear he believes the 20-year-old winger still has a valuable role to play under manager Ruben Amorim.

“Alejandro is a really good player, we need good players in the team,” said Amad. “I know Garna really well. I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team.”

The comments come after recent reports that Garnacho is surplus to requirements at the club. Following the Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, Portuguese head coach Ruben Amorim told the player openly during training to find a new club, according to The Athletic.

Garnacho has also hinted at frustrations with Amorim. Nevertheless, the Argentine youngster, who played the entire second half in United’s 1-0 loss to the ASEAN All-Stars in Kuala Lumpur last week, remains with the squad in Asia.

When questioned by reporters over the situation, Amorim said: “It is not a surprise, he is a Manchester United player.

“Some players are injured. It was better not to fly them here to play these two games. It is a normal situation [with Garnacho]. It is OK.”
