Cole Palmer showed his class once again in the Europa Conference League final against Real Betis.
This season, Cole Palmer hasn’t been quite the player many expected him to be, given the standards he put up last season. Last season, he had 24 goals and 13 assists in domestic competitions, finishing in the top 30 of the Ballon d’Or last season. He took the world by storm after a shocking move to Chelsea from Manchester City,
This season, he hasn’t quite lived up to that standard, especially in the second half of the season.
While he has registered 15 league goals and eight assists, which is close to his previous numbers, his performances have dropped in the second half of the season. He hasn’t been the same guy who started the season for Chelsea.
However, yesterday, he showed the type of player he has always been as he powered Chelsea to a 4-1 win over Real Betis in the final.
Chelsea were down by one goal, but Palmer’s performance in the space of five minutes turned the game around. He provided two assists in the space of five minutes, which gave Chelsea a 2-1 lead before Sancho and Caicedo added two more goals to their tally. The English midfielder proved his class once again and that he remains one of their best players this season.
