AC Milan’s search for a new sporting director appears to be nearing its conclusion, with Igli Tare emerging as the top candidate.
According to recent reports, Tare has re-established contact with the Milan management, and an agreement is imminent. The former Lazio sporting director’s experience and track record make him an attractive candidate for the role.
Tare’s credentials are impressive, with 15 years of experience under his belt at Lazio, where he worked under the guidance of Claudio Lotito. During his tenure, he played a key role in building teams that competed in the Champions League and Europa League.
AC Milan’s ambitions are clear: they aim to return to European competition immediately after missing out on qualification this season.
The Rossoneri have been impressed by Tare’s vision and expertise, and it’s likely that he’ll be appointed to the role soon. While there was some competition from other candidates, including Fabio Paratici and Andrea Berta, Tare’s experience and familiarity with the Italian football landscape make him the natural choice.
With a potential appointment, Tare will begin working on the club’s project for the 2025-26 season and beyond. Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani, along with Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Gerry Cardinale, have all reportedly been impressed by Tare’s ideas and approach. If everything goes according to plan, Tare could soon be shaking hands on a deal to become AC Milan’s new sporting director.
