In a season where football hasn’t exactly gone according to the script, Tottenham may just fail to rewrite their history.

The 2024/25 season has been one for the books. Unimaginable things have been happening. It feels like the football ‘gods’ have flipped the script and in a way we haven’t seen in a very long time.

Many clubs have broken records. Newcastle won their first major trophy in 35 years, Bologna broke a 51-year trophy drought, Kane finally won a trophy, and Crystal Palace beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final to win their first-ever major trophy. It has been a season with unexpected triumphs, and it seems like there’s one more at play.

Tottenham Hotspur, despite having a horrendous second season under Ange Postecoglou, are in the Europa League final. This final presents the players with a chance to rewrite the club’s history and win their first major trophy since 2008.

But they can just do the most Spursy thing ever?

Currently, with all that’s happening, it seems that the odds are in their favour. They’ve performed wonderfully in the Europa League from the group stage till now, with good stats to back it up, but you can’t shake the feeling that they may just bottle this one.

For the finals, they will be without Maddison, Kuluvsevki and Bergvall, but Postecoglou is happy to rely on the services of Heung-min Son, who is back from injury, as well as Solanke and Johnson, who have been crucial to getting the team to the final.

They also have a good record against Manchester United this season, winning all their three meetings this season, which is a big boost going into the final but it also sets the stage for Spurs to display an attribute they are known for.

In the Premier League, they are known for taking points from big teams and giving to lesser teams, you almost can’t be so sure of Spurs winning a match you expect them to, which is the unshakable feeling going into this final, but for the sake of everything that has been happening this season, Tottenham fans will hope it goes well for them and they come out as champions tomorrow.
