Inter Milan’s Serie A title hopes took a significant hit as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Lazio at the San Siro on Sunday.
Despite leading the log for most of the season, Inter find themselves fighting for every point in the final stages of the season. They couldn’t have imagined their season ending this way.
In the match against Lazio, they knew a defeat would hand Napoli the title. Inter put in the work right from the first half, and they went ahead in the closing minutes of the first half thanks to a strike from Yann Bisseck.
In the second half, Lazio turned up the heat. They needed to continue their push for European football, and they weren’t going to let their rivals walk over them. Pedro pulled Lazio level a few minutes into the second half. The goal was first ruled out for offside, but a VAR check showed that Pedro was indeed onside.
The second half was a tough battle between both teams. Inzaghi’s men gave it their all and they went ahead again when Dumfries headed in a corner. Celebrations were through the roof, they thought they had won it, but Pedro once again spoiled their joy by scoring a late penalty.
This draw leaves them still one point behind Napoli, making things spicy on the final day.
