The Premier League has rescheduled the Aston Villa vs. Tottenham match from May 18 to May 16, providing Spurs with additional preparation time for a potential Europa League final on May 21.

This decision aims to ensure fairness, as Manchester United, their likely final opponents, also have their league fixtures adjusted accordingly.

Remember that Tottenham had requested the fixture to be moved earlier, but Villa blocked it, saying they had also played tough fixtures in the previous weeks.

However, the late notice—just ten days before the original date—has drawn criticism. Villa legend Gabby Agbonlahor expressed concerns about the inconvenience to fans and perceived favouritism towards top-six clubs.

Spurs Manager Ange Postecoglou has also expressed his concerns about the schedule change, stating that it was too close. The schedule change, however, is welcomed by Tottenham as it would help them with their quest for European silverware, which they hope will end in glory this time.
