Would Chelsea count winning the Europa Conference League trophy as a success? Honestly, I can’t seem to see why they won’t.

You might be a Chelsea fan reading this, and it sounds very absurd to count the Conference League trophy as a success for a club like Chelsea, but here’s why you might reconsider.

Maresca Thinks It’s A Success

He hasn’t exactly said winning the Europa Conference League trophy will mark a successful outing for a club like Chelsea, but he has implied it.

He holds the competition in high regard, and Chelsea’s form in the competition just shows that their manager thinks highly of it. It’s not just about securing points against winnable opponents, it’s about the edge it could give Maresca as a manager.

Also, his thoughts on how Chelsea sit in the table make you think he rates the Conference League.

It’s no news that Maresca has always drawn comparisons from the performance of the club in previous years, and now, winning the Europa Conference League may just be a big win, maybe not in your books, but in Maresca’s books.

It’s Not What Fans Want But It’s Something

Chelsea fans want to be in the Champions League, something the new owners cannot provide despite spending all that money, which is why winning the Europa Conference League will feel like a step in the right direction.

The club isn’t where it’s supposed to be and Conference League football is a no-no for a club like Chelsea but for a team that missed out completely on European football for a season and has been through ups and downs, the Europa Conference League trophy is a little bit of a cushion to relax on

What’s even worse is not winning it. For the favourites of the competition and with a rich history, not winning the lowest tier of European football will be a big slap on the London giants.

Rival fans won’t let Chelsea supporters hear the last of it. Winning the trophy is also a chance to get into Europe next season given the shaky events that are rocking the top 4 position.

While Chelsea is a club of high standards, they seem a bit far from the actual dream but winning the Europa Conference League will help put a nice ring on a rough time under Todd Boehly and maybe serve as a sign of better things to come.
