Barcelona face Inter Milan at the Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys on Wednesday
Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal has made his assessment of Inter Milan’s strengths ahead of the Champions League semi-final clash between the two clubs at the Estadi Olimpic.
“We know they’re very strong defensively and that defence is their greatest weapon,” said the 17-year-old. “They’re also very quick on the counterattack and have a good team.
“We have to play like we always do to advance.”
The match comes at a delicate moment for both sides. Barcelona will be without striker Robert Lewandowski, who suffered a thigh injury during the 1-0 win over Leganes earlier in April. The Poland international has been ruled out of both legs against Inter.
Inter, meanwhile, come into the first leg at the Estadi Olimpic on a patchy run of form. The Italian giants were on course for a treble this season, but have now been knocked out of the Coppa Italia after an embarrassing 3-0 loss to rivals AC Milan, and lost their lead in the Serie A, falling three points behind current league leaders Napoli.
The Nerazzurri still maintain one of the tightest defences in Europe, however, having conceded just five goals so far in the competition (12 games played).
Yamal, who has been an instrumental figure as creator and goalscorer in Barcelona’s forward line, will be faced with the task of breaking down the Nerazzurri.
