Harry Kane marked his record-equalling 125th England appearance with two goals as Thomas Tuchel’s side eased to a 3-0 win over Czechia and moved to the brink of the Nations League quarter-finals.
Kane matched Peter Shilton’s record for England men’s appearances at Wembley and celebrated the occasion in fitting fashion, taking his international goals tally to 91.
England took control in the 27th minute when Kane’s dangerous delivery from the right was turned into his own net by Vladimir Coufal. The Czech defender attempted to clear under pressure from Eberechi Eze but could only steer the ball past Lukas Hornicek.
Kane then added a second before half-time after England produced one of their best moves of the night. Elliot Anderson clipped a pass into the right channel for Morgan Rogers, whose first-time cross found Kane unmarked in the middle. The captain made no mistake from close range.
The forward nearly completed his hat-trick soon after the restart when his effort from around 20 yards beat Hornicek but struck the crossbar.
Kane did not have to wait long for his third involvement on the scoresheet. Lewis Hall delivered a corner into the area and Kane rose to head the ball down and inside the far post in the 61st minute.
The result was effectively settled, allowing Tuchel to begin withdrawing key players. Jude Bellingham was among those taken off before Kane received a standing ovation when he was replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the 82nd minute.
England had controlled the contest from the opening stages. Bellingham repeatedly found space to push the hosts forward and Trent Alexander-Arnold was particularly prominent after returning to the side at right-back, his 30-yard free-kick forced Hornicek into an early save.
Czechia rarely threatened after falling behind and managed only occasional efforts from distance. Roman Macek came closest late on, sending a shot narrowly wide, but England comfortably saw out the closing stages.
