Erling Haaland has been exactly the same despite Manchester City being found guilty of breaching over 100 Premier League financial rules, according to his Norway teammate Kristoffer Ajer.

Haaland is due to return to international action on Thursday when Norway visit Wales in the Nations League, his first match since the independent commission published its verdict against City.

Ajer said the forward had shown no sign of being affected by the case during the Norway camp and continued to bring the same energy to the squad.

“Ever since I met him brings lot of energy and joy to the group,” Ajer said. “That’s the biggest compliment I always give, he hasn’t changed a bit from the moment I met him, even though he’s the biggest star on the planet right now.

“He been exactly the same the last few days as well which is not a surprise for me.”

The commission found City guilty of arranging “sham” commercial agreements to artificially increase their revenues, submitting “misstated” accounts and breaching spending rules. City deny wrongdoing and intend to appeal, while any sanctions will be considered at a separate hearing.

Haaland has continued to score for Norway during the case. He scored twice against Denmark before finding the net again in the 2-1 defeat by Portugal, taking his Nations League tally to a record 22 goals.

The 25-year-old has scored 65 times in 57 appearances for Norway and will be expected to lead their attack against Wales in Cardiff.

Ajer said the City case had not been a major subject of discussion within the Norway squad.

“I have to admit that honestly I’ve read very little into it [the City situation]. We don’t talk about it much here,” the Brentford defender said.

“Obviously, it was a statement released yesterday, so it’s quite fresh and new. But we’re just footballers, we don’t know all the ins and outs and all the stuff that’s being talked about in the media.

“So we haven’t really had any fantastic discussions about it where we know a lot.”
