Aston Villa finally picked up their first Premier League win of the season as they beat Tottenham 3-2, piling more pressure on Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi after another disappointing performance.
Tottenham’s miserable start to the Premier League season continued as Aston Villa came from behind to secure a 3-2 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham entered the game without a win or a goal from their opening league matches, and despite showing plenty of attacking intent early on, they once again struggled to turn their chances into goals.
They came closest inside the opening 10 minutes when Savio found space at the far post, only for Zion Suzuki to produce an excellent double save to keep Villa level.
Suzuki remained busy as Tottenham continued to threaten. The Villa goalkeeper denied Archie Gray with his feet before reacting quickly to keep out another Savio effort from the edge of the box.
Villa gradually began finding openings of their own, with Emiliano Buendia forcing Antonin Kinsky into a sharp save after Tottenham lost possession inside their own penalty area.
Nicolas Jackson then sent another warning shot just wide, while Sandro Tonali came close at the other end with a powerful effort from distance.
Tottenham appeared to be heading into the break with their clean sheet intact, but Villa struck on the stroke of half-time.
Boubacar Kamara’s miscued effort fell kindly to Johan Manzambi, who made no mistake from close range to give the visitors the lead.
De Zerbi responded by introducing Mohamed Kudus at half-time, but Tottenham’s problems continued after the restart. Kinsky had to make another important save shortly after the interval, denying Jackson in a one-on-one situation as Villa threatened to extend their advantage.
Tottenham thought they had finally ended their long wait for a Premier League goal when Kudus found the net, but the effort was ruled out after Andy Robertson was caught offside in the build-up.

Villa then punished Spurs for their failure to capitalise. Jackson doubled the visitors’ lead just after the hour mark, squeezing his effort into the bottom corner despite Kinsky getting a hand to the shot.
Things went from bad to worse for Tottenham with 11 minutes remaining when Buendia unleashed a stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner.
The goal prompted a mass exodus from the stadium as frustrated Tottenham supporters made their feelings known.
Spurs finally ended their scoring drought in the closing stages, with Conor Gallagher’s effort taking a huge deflection off Matty Cash before Jan Paul van Hecke headed home with virtually the final kick of the match.
The late goals offered Tottenham some consolation, but they could not prevent another damaging defeat.
Villa’s victory gives them their first Premier League win of the season, while Tottenham remain without a victory and with serious questions surrounding De Zerbi heading into the international break.
