Tottenham Hotspur failed to score for a third consecutive Premier League game as they were held to a dull 0-0 draw by Nottingham Forest, leaving both sides searching for their first league win under Oliver Glasner.
Tottenham’s difficult start to the Premier League season continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Nottingham Forest, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side failing to find the net for a third consecutive league match.
De Zerbi made three changes to the team that lost to Newcastle, including dropping big-money midfielder Mateus Fernandes. However, the reshuffle did little to solve Spurs’ problems in attack, as the visitors struggled to create clear opportunities during a first half dominated by a battle in midfield.
Omar Marmoush came closest for Tottenham before the break when he used his strength to get away from Neco Williams and create room for a shot, only to drag his effort wide. Forest gradually grew into the contest, with Jair Cunha firing over before Liam Delap, making his first start for the hosts, found Morgan Gibbs-White inside the box. The midfielder’s effort was comfortably dealt with by Antonín Kinsky.
The hosts thought they had finally broken the deadlock shortly after the hour mark. Gibbs-White raced in behind the Tottenham defence and attempted to lift the ball over Kinsky, who managed to get a hand to the effort. Williams reacted quickest to the loose ball and put it into the net, but his celebrations were cut short when VAR ruled that he had handled the ball.

Tottenham almost punished Forest immediately on the counter. Kinsky launched a superb long pass towards Marmoush, who found himself with space in front of goal. Mohammed Kudus was completely unmarked alongside him, but Marmoush chose to shoot and sent his effort well over the crossbar.
That moment summed up a frustrating afternoon for Tottenham, whose attacking play repeatedly lacked the quality and decision-making required to turn possession into goals. Forest were hardly much better, but they came closest to claiming all three points and extended Spurs’ winless run.
The draw means Tottenham have avoided losing their opening three league games for the first time since 1979, but they have now failed to score in each of those matches for the first time since 1974. Forest, meanwhile, remain without a Premier League victory under Glasner and have now gone six league games without a win.
The Tricky Trees also missed the opportunity to record five consecutive victories over Tottenham for the first time, but a point will provide some consolation from another frustrating afternoon at the City Ground.
