Chelsea could be heading towards one of the busiest deadline days of the summer, with Enzo Fernandez at the centre of a transfer saga that could completely reshape their midfield.
Chelsea are approaching the final hours of the transfer window with plenty still to resolve, and Fernandez remains the biggest question mark. Manchester City are expected to make a formal approach for the Argentina international, with a potential deal reportedly worth around £120 million being discussed.
🚨💣 BREAKING: Manchester City have now made official club to club approach with Chelsea for Enzo Fernández!
For the first time this summer, #MCFC have approached Chelsea and negotiations are ongoing

Remarkably, City’s interest in Fernandez has been lingering since the end of the World Cup, but the situation is finally reaching a point where Chelsea could be forced to make a decision. The midfielder is reportedly open to the move, while Chelsea are understood to be willing to consider selling if the right offer arrives. The timing, however, leaves the London club with very little room for error.
If Fernandez does leave, Chelsea already have their preferred replacement in mind. Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara is believed to be their first choice, although negotiations have encountered a slight stumbling block. The deal remains possible, but Chelsea’s ability to complete it could depend heavily on how quickly the Fernandez situation develops.
The Blues are also keeping an eye on Roma midfielder Manu Kone. Chelsea have explored both options simultaneously, although there is currently no expectation that they will sign both players.
Camara appears to be the preferred candidate, meaning a late bid from City could trigger a chain reaction that sees Fernandez leave, Camara arrive and Chelsea completely change the look of their midfield before the window closes.
There could even be another twist involving Malo Gusto. The Chelsea player has attracted interest from at least two Premier League clubs and has been used in midfield this season. His departure would therefore create yet another problem for Chelsea to solve, particularly if Fernandez also leaves Stamford Bridge.
🚨🇦🇷 Enzo Fernández has a verbal agreement with Manchester City on personal terms.
Deal depends on club to club decision as #MCFC have not sent official bid yet but contacts will take place soon; decision on price up to Chelsea.

And the midfield isn’t the only area Chelsea are trying to sort out. The club are attempting to move on a number of other players, including Robert Sanchez, Marc Guiu and Mykhailo Mudryk. Pedro Neto’s future is also worth watching, despite the winger’s reluctance to leave, with several clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
