Chelsea are considering Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara as a potential midfield addition, with the club also facing a crucial decision over Enzo Fernandez’s future.
Chelsea have given Manchester City until the end of the week to make a formal approach for Fernandez, whose future at Stamford Bridge has remained uncertain throughout the summer.
While Chelsea continue to insist that Fernandez remains part of their plans, the possibility of his departure has forced the club to consider how they would reshape their midfield. Camara has now emerged as one of the players being assessed as Chelsea weigh up their options.
🚨 Chelsea have sent a very strong message to Enzo Fernandez camp: “This will not go to deadline day, forget the final days, Chelsea want a quick resolution, in or out, by the END OF THIS WEEK! The 22-year-old has attracted growing interest after establishing himself as one of Monaco’s most promising midfielders. Chelsea have already made progress in exploring the possibility of a deal, although any move is likely to depend on departures from their own squad.
Camara is understood to be open to leaving Monaco this summer, but the Senegal international wants his next club to represent a significant step forward in his career. That has made Chelsea an attractive destination, while Crystal Palace have struggled to convince the player despite making a €50 million offer.
Why Lamine Camara Appeals to Chelsea
Camara’s preference for a club competing towards the top of the Premier League could ultimately work in Chelsea’s favour. Manchester United have also been linked with the midfielder, but Chelsea currently appear to be among the strongest potential destinations should he leave Monaco.

His development since joining Monaco from Metz in 2024 has significantly increased his reputation. Camara has combined his club performances with impressive displays for Senegal, while his World Cup campaign further strengthened his standing in European football.
For Chelsea, his age and potential would also fit the club’s strategy of investing in players capable of developing into long-term stars. However, the Blues are not yet in a position to simply add another expensive midfielder without first creating space within the squad.
That is where Fernandez’s situation becomes particularly important.
Chelsea are prepared to listen if Manchester City make a serious move for the Argentina international, and the club’s decision could determine whether Camara becomes a realistic target. If Fernandez stays, there would be less urgency to invest heavily in another central midfielder.
Manchester City keen to sign Enzo Fernandez and could recoup much of Chelsea’s £120m asking price via the departures of Rodri (Barcelona second bid rejected but talks ongoing) and Tijjani Reijnders (Al-Qadsiah in advanced talks).

The Blues are also monitoring other options, including Premier League midfielders Alex Scott and Adam Wharton, suggesting Camara is part of a wider recruitment process rather than the club’s only target.
