Pedro Neto has been linked with a move away from Chelsea for most of the summer, and there is only one reason why Chelsea could sell.
Following multiple reports over the summer, it looks like Portuguese winger Pedro Neto could be on his way out of Chelsea.
Neto joined just two seasons ago and has grown to be an important part of the BlueCo project. In those two seasons, he has featured mostly in the starting eleven, helping the team win two trophies in the process.
He has also seen the club go through its fair share of managerial changes. With Alonso now at the wheel and a whole lot of incomings this summer, it is only natural that there would be a few offers for some of the older players.
Why Will Chelsea Sell Neto?
Ideally, Chelsea wouldn’t need to part ways with Neto.
🚨 According to Simon Phillips, Arsenal have contacted Pedro Neto’s camp to express our interest in the winger… ☎️

Since joining the Blues, he’s been a consistent name in the starting XI despite having a reputation of being an injury-prone player. In his six years at Wolves, he missed a total of 100 games due to long-term injuries, and that was one of the fears about Chelsea signing.
He has, however, managed to stay fit for the most part of the past two seasons at Stamford Bridge, missing only two games. Judging by his stats from last season, he was Chelsea’s 4th most productive player, behind Joao Pedro, Enzo Fernandez and Cole Palmer.
He is also the most effective winger with 10 goals and 10 assists (20G/A), which is higher than Garnacho’s 14G/A and Estevao’s 8G/A.
So why exactly would Chelsea consider selling him?
Money. The current offers for Neto sound too good to be true.
Maresca seems to be a huge fan of the Portuguese winger, and with Manchester City willing to pay €81 million, any neutral fan will sanction the sale. Arsenal seem to be interested after missing out on Vinicius Jr., and it just seems okay to sell.

Neto isn’t exactly the best winger in the Premier League or even at Chelsea, but it won’t hurt to sell at that price given that Chelsea have new players in wing positions.
Alonso could use Neto’s pace and stamina, especially when it comes to leading the press, but the Portuguese winger may not be in the plan for the new manager. The new season hasn’t even started, and Alonso may need some time to figure out his squad.
It probably won’t be in Chelsea’s plans to sell Neto, but if other clubs are willing to meet the rumored price tag, there is a scenario where he leaves.
