Harry Kane is close to extending his Bayern Munich contract until 2029 after another prolific season with the Bundesliga giants.

Harry Kane is reportedly close to extending his stay at Bayern Munich, with the England captain expected to sign a new contract that would keep him at the German club until 2029.

Talks are scheduled to continue this week when Kane returns from his holiday, but his camp is understood to be broadly satisfied with the proposed terms. His current salary, believed to be around €25 million gross per year, is not expected to change significantly, although discussions could still take place over performance-related bonuses.

The prospect of Kane remaining in Munich represents a significant shift from earlier expectations that the striker could eventually return to England. The former Tottenham forward had been linked with a move back to the Premier League as he pursued Alan Shearer’s all-time goalscoring record, but his priorities now appear to have changed.

Kane has already settled into life in Bavaria, with his family reportedly comfortable in Munich. That stability, combined with his success on the pitch, has made staying at Bayern an increasingly attractive option for the 33-year-old.

His performances have certainly given Bayern plenty of reason to want him around for longer. Kane scored an extraordinary 61 goals in 51 appearances across all competitions last season, taking his Bayern tally to 146 goals since arriving from Tottenham in 2023.

The striker has also already won two Bundesliga titles during his time in Germany, but there is still one major prize missing from his collection. Bayern’s Champions League campaign will therefore be central to Kane’s ambitions as he prepares to commit his future to the club.

For Bayern, extending Kane’s contract would secure one of the world’s most prolific strikers for his peak years while giving Vincent Kompany a proven goalscorer around whom he can continue to build his attack. The club’s ambition is not simply to dominate domestically but to return to the top of European football.

With the new agreement expected to run until 2029, Kane could now spend the remainder of his prime years chasing Champions League glory in Munich rather than returning to England. After another remarkable season in front of goal, the message from both player and club appears clear: there is still unfinished business at Bayern.
