PSG have re-signed Lucas Digne from Aston Villa on a three-year deal, bringing the experienced France defender back to Paris 11 years after his departure.

Paris Saint-Germain have completed the signing of Lucas Digne from Aston Villa, with the experienced France international returning to the club more than a decade after leaving the French capital. The 33-year-old has signed a three-year contract that will keep him at PSG until 2029.

PSG have reportedly activated Digne’s £8.5 million release clause to bring him back to France, although the Ligue 1 champions did not disclose the financial details of the agreement. The move represents a return to familiar surroundings for a player who previously spent two seasons with the club between 2013 and 2015.

Digne enjoyed considerable success during his first spell in Paris, winning two Ligue 1 titles, the French Cup and two French League Cups. He now returns with considerably more experience, having subsequently played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs and established himself as a senior figure for France.

“I am very honoured to be returning to Paris Saint-Germain following the wonderful experience I had here more than 10 years ago,” Digne said after completing his move. “I cannot wait to start this new chapter and put all my experience at the service of the team.”

The left-back began his professional career with Lille before making the move to PSG. He also spent a season on loan at Roma before joining Barcelona in 2016, where he made 46 appearances and won La Liga, two Copa del Rey trophies and the Spanish Super Cup.

Digne subsequently moved to Everton in 2018, spending four seasons at Goodison Park before joining Aston Villa. His time at Villa Park lasted four-and-a-half seasons, during which he became an important player under Unai Emery and helped the club win the Europa League in 2026.

The defender also brings significant international experience to PSG. Digne has earned 64 caps for France since making his debut in 2014 and featured at two World Cups, including the 2026 tournament where Les Bleus reached the semi-finals.

His return gives PSG an experienced option at left-back as they prepare for another demanding season across domestic and European competitions. The French champions will begin their Ligue 1 campaign against Rennes on August 23, with Digne potentially in line to make his second debut for the club.
