Luka Modric has signed a new one-year contract with AC Milan, keeping the Croatian midfielder at the Serie A club until June 2027 after an impressive debut season.
Luka Modric will remain an AC Milan player for the 2026/27 season after signing a new one-year contract that keeps him at the club until June 2027.
The 40-year-old Croatian midfielder arrived at San Siro last summer following the end of his legendary spell with Real Madrid and quickly became an important figure in Milan’s squad.
During his debut campaign in Italy, Modric made 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and providing three assists as he continued to demonstrate his quality despite his age.
The future still bears his name.

Negotiations over a contract extension had been ongoing for several weeks, but both parties have now reached a full agreement, ensuring the veteran midfielder will remain under new head coach Ruben Amorim.
Modric will continue wearing the number 14 shirt as he prepares for another season with the Rossoneri, adding further experience and leadership to the squad.
Following his involvement with Croatia at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the midfielder will now enjoy a short holiday before reporting back in time for Milan’s pre-season training camp in Australia.
The contract extension represents another important piece of business for AC Milan as they continue shaping their squad ahead of the new campaign under Amorim’s leadership.
