Juventus are considering Guglielmo Vicario and Noah Atubolu after negotiations with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez stalled over the goalkeeper’s transfer fee.
Juventus are beginning to explore alternative goalkeeping options after negotiations with Aston Villa for Emiliano Martinez reached a standstill. The Serie A giants have identified Tottenham Hotspur’s Guglielmo Vicario and Freiburg goalkeeper Noah Atubolu as possible targets should a deal for the Argentine fail to materialize.
The Bianconeri have prioritised signing a new goalkeeper following an underwhelming 2025-26 campaign from Michele Di Gregorio. Martinez quickly emerged as Juventus’ preferred option after another impressive season and his performances with Argentina at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Despite making progress on personal terms with the 33-year-old, Juventus have been unable to reach an agreement with Aston Villa. Reports suggest the player is open to the move, but negotiations between the two clubs remain some distance apart.
Aston Villa are reportedly holding firm on their valuation and are demanding at least €12 million to sanction Martinez’s departure. Juventus, however, are reluctant to meet that asking price and believe the fee is excessive given the goalkeeper’s age.
The Italian club’s remaining hope is that Martinez himself will help unlock the transfer once he returns from his post-World Cup break. Having reached the final with Argentina, the experienced shot-stopper is expected to receive an extended holiday before reporting back to Aston Villa, delaying any fresh discussions.
With the new season approaching, Juventus are unwilling to wait indefinitely. Club chief Giovanni Carnevali has therefore instructed the recruitment department to assess alternative options in case Martinez remains out of reach.
Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has once again emerged as a serious candidate. The Italy international has long been admired by Juventus and offers proven Serie A and Premier League experience. Freiburg’s Noah Atubolu has also entered the shortlist, with the 24-year-old entering the final year of his contract in Germany, potentially making him a more affordable option.

Juventus continue to monitor several goalkeepers before making a final decision. Alongside Vicario and Atubolu, Parma’s Zion Suzuki and Napoli goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic remain under consideration as the Bianconeri look to strengthen one of the most important positions in the squad ahead of the new campaign.
