Several first-team players will be missing but Jeremy Jacquet, Harvey Elliott and many youngsters will feature
Liverpool will have a two-week pre-season tour of the US as Andoni Iraola prepares for his first full campaign in charge.
The club will base themselves in Chicago before travelling for matches against Sunderland in Nashville, Wrexham in New York and Leeds United back in Chicago. The tour will conclude before Liverpool return to Merseyside for home fixtures against Monaco and Como in August.
The trip gives Iraola his first extended opportunity to work with much of the group he inherited from Arne Slot, although several key players will be absent after their involvement at the World Cup. Virgil van Dijk, Ryan Gravenberch, Cody Gakpo, Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak, Alisson, Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz have all been granted time off, with Gravenberch, Wirtz and Isak expected to join the squad before the final two matches.
Liverpool’s first match is against Sunderland at Geodis Park on 25 July, before facing Wrexham at Yankee Stadium four days later. The final fixture comes against Leeds United at Soldier Field on 2 August.
Supporters can expect to see Jeremy Jacquet for the first time following his £60m move from Rennes. The France U-21 defender has recovered from the shoulder injury that ruled him out of the second half of last season for Rennes and is available for selection. Munoz, however, will not feature because of his international commitments with Spain this summer.
Several injured players will also travel. Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are continuing their rehabilitation and will work with the medical staff during the tour, while youngster Jayden Danns will be assessed after reporting hamstring discomfort.
The absence of a number of senior internationals is expected to create opportunities for academy players. Players like Josh Abe, Will Wright, Kieran Morrison, James McConnell, Lewis Koumas, Josh Sonni-Lambie, Mor Talla Ndiaye, Luke Chambers and Ifeanyi Ndukwe are all in contention to travel as they seek to impress Iraola during pre-season.
Harvey Elliott will also look to re-establish himself after returning from a season-long loan at Aston Villa.
