Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne after triggering his €10 million release clause, with the France international agreeing a three-year deal.
PSG are set to complete the signing of Aston Villa left-back Lucas Digne after informing the Premier League club that they will activate the defender’s €10 million release clause.
According to reports, PSG have decided to trigger the clause in Digne’s contract, paving the way for the experienced France international to return to the French capital more than a decade after leaving the club.
Digne previously spent two seasons at PSG between 2013 and 2015 before embarking on spells with Roma, Barcelona, Everton and Aston Villa. Although he remained under contract with Villa until 2028, the release clause allows the Ligue 1 champions to secure his services for a relatively modest fee.
The 32-year-old has already agreed personal terms with PSG and is expected to sign a three-year contract once the transfer is formally completed. The move will see him reunite with French football after several successful years abroad.
Luis Enrique views Digne as an ideal addition to his squad, with the veteran full-back expected to provide experienced competition and reliable cover for first-choice left-back Nuno Mendes throughout the new season.

Digne’s stock has risen during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he has established himself as France’s starting left-back during the knockout rounds. Les Bleus have kept three consecutive clean sheets against Sweden, Paraguay and Morocco with Digne playing a key role in their defensive solidity.
His departure also marks the end of a successful spell at Aston Villa. Since arriving from Everton in 2022, Digne has been an important figure for the Midlands club and leaves as a UEFA Europa League winner after helping Villa achieve one of their biggest recent successes.
With the transfer now close to completion, PSG will add another experienced international to a squad already brimming with talent as they continue strengthening following back-to-back UEFA Champions League triumphs. Digne, meanwhile, will hope to cap off his World Cup campaign by returning to Paris with another major trophy on the horizon.
