Roma have opened discussions with Chelsea over a potential loan move for Alejandro Garnacho, although the Premier League club are pushing for a permanent transfer.
Roma have stepped up their search for a new attacking winger after missing out on Mason Greenwood, with Chelsea’s Alejandro Garnacho emerging as one of their leading targets this summer.
Sporting director Tony D’Amico has intensified negotiations on multiple fronts as he looks to provide head coach Gian Piero Gasperini with the wide attacker he has requested ahead of the new season.
Garnacho is understood to be a genuine option for the Giallorossi, although any deal remains far from straightforward due to Chelsea’s current stance on the player’s future.

According to reports, Roma initially proposed a loan move without an obligation to buy during early discussions with Chelsea, hoping to secure the Argentine on a temporary basis.
Chelsea, however, are not currently interested in that structure. The Blues are reportedly prioritising a permanent sale after investing around €45 million plus bonuses to sign Garnacho just a year ago.
While a loan agreement has not been completely ruled out, Chelsea are believed to be willing to revisit that possibility only towards the end of the summer transfer window if a permanent transfer fails to materialise.
Roma are therefore keeping their options open and continue to assess alternative targets in the market. Nottingham Forest winger Dan Ndoye remains highly regarded following his impressive spell at Bologna, although he is not considered the club’s immediate priority.
For now, Garnacho remains one of Roma’s preferred attacking targets, but with Chelsea holding firm over their valuation and preferred transfer terms, further negotiations will be required before any agreement can be reached.
