Inter Milan have officially signed goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio in a €3 million deal, with the Italian set to compete for the No. 1 spot once he recovers from injury.

Inter have officially confirmed the signing of Italian goalkeeper Ivan Provedel from Lazio in a deal worth €3 million.

The experienced shot-stopper has completed his medical and signed a contract that will keep him at the San Siro until June 2029.

The 32-year-old finalized his move after successfully passing medical examinations on Wednesday. Provedel reportedly welcomed the opportunity to join the Nerazzurri, having supported the club since childhood.

Inter have brought Provedel in following the departure of veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer. Once fully fit, he is expected to battle Josep Martinez for the starting role between the posts during the upcoming campaign.

The move marks another important step in Provedel’s football journey, having developed through the youth systems of Udinese and Chievo before building experience across Italian football with Perugia, Pisa, Modena, Juve Stabia, Pro Vercelli and Empoli.

His breakthrough came at Spezia, where his impressive performances earned him a €2.55 million transfer to Lazio in the summer of 2022. During his time in Rome, he established himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable goalkeepers.

However, Provedel’s 2025-26 season ended prematurely after he suffered a serious shoulder injury in March. The injury required surgery and significantly disrupted the latter stages of his campaign.

Recovery remains Inter’s immediate concern, with reports suggesting the Italian international may not be ready to return to competitive action until the end of August. As a result, the Nerazzurri could have to wait several weeks before their new signing is available for selection.

Although Provedel has received multiple call-ups to the Italy national team, he is still waiting to make his senior international debut. Inter will now hope he can regain full fitness quickly and provide strong competition as they prepare for another demanding season across domestic and European competitions.
