Former Liverpool boss Arne Slot is reportedly in talks with the KNVB over becoming the next Netherlands head coach following Ronald Koeman’s resignation after the World Cup.
Arne Slot has reportedly emerged as a leading candidate to become the next Netherlands head coach, with the former Liverpool manager already in discussions with the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) following Ronald Koeman’s departure.

The 47-year-old has been out of work since leaving Liverpool in June after a disappointing 2025/26 campaign. Although the Reds managed to secure UEFA Champions League qualification, the season fell well below expectations, leading to Slot’s dismissal after just two years in charge.
Despite his difficult end at Anfield, Slot’s reputation remains high in his homeland. He guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in his first season on Merseyside, earning widespread praise for his attacking style and tactical approach.

Initial talks between Slot and the Dutch Football Association have already taken place, although no final decision has been made. The KNVB are believed to be assessing several candidates before appointing a new manager.
Slot is not the only name under consideration. Sources claim that Erik ten Hag, who currently serves as technical director at FC Twente, is also in contention for the role as the Dutch FA weighs up its options.
