Erling Haaland scored a brace to drag his country past five-time World Cup champions Brazil and into the quarter-finals.
Brazil were sent out of the 2026 World Cup by Norway after Haaland’s 11-minute brace.
Brazil and Norway opened their round of 16 tie with a lot of gusto, especially after Norway opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, only for the goal to be ruled out.
Brazil then got a penalty in the 10th minute but it was saved by Nyland. Guimarães, who stepped up to take his first-ever penalty for Brazil, saw his shot saved by the Norwegian.

The opening exchanges set the tone for the half as Nyland went on to deny Brazil three more times before half time while Alisson replicated the same at the other end when called into action by Haaland and Odegaard.
All the first half lacked was a goal and both teams set out to change that in the second half.
Vinicius was first denied again by Nyland before setting up Endrick who bizarrely missed after a clean run on goal. Nyland would then deny Rayan from the edge of the box with a smart save to keep his team in the tie.
Alisson was also called into action once again by Haaland but he couldn’t do anything in the 79th minute when Haaland rose highest to beat Gabriel in the air and head into the goal to give Norway the lead.

Brazil began to throw everything at Norway and almost got an equalizer, only for Nyland to claw the ball from an impossible angle, onto the bar and keep Norway in the lead.
In searching for an equalizer, Brazil were stunned once again by Haaland. This time, they gave him space on the edge of the box and the Manchester City man wasted no time in rifling a powerful strike past Alisson and into the left bottom corner.

Brazil would eventually get a consolation through Neymar who converted their second penalty of the game but that was all from them as it was too late.
